PESTICIDE FIELD STUDY FOR MOBILITY IN SOIL AND
GROUNDWATER

Project: Pesticide Mobility Study
Client: Bayer Corporation, Agriculture Division
Location: Salinas Valley, CA

Project Description:

Weber, Hayes and Associates conducted a search of agricultural parcels in Monterey County to locate suitable field study site for an intensive pesticide mobility field trial. The study site was characterized with extensive soil boring, hydraulic conductivity testing, and lab analysis of soil properties. Once the site was approved by the EPA, WHA installed 22 monitoring wells and 27 lysimeters (soil moisture samplers), and a dedicated weather station with cellular data transfer. A controlled application of the test substance was made to a broccoli crop, and intensive water sampling was conducted under strict FIFRA GLP protocols.

Tasks:

  • Intensive Soil and Groundwater Sampling
  • Testing Hydraulic Properties of Subsurface
  • Installation of Network of Monitoring Wells, Piezometers, Lysimeters and Soil Moisture Probes
  • Controlled Application of Test Substance to Broccoli Crop.
  • Documentation and Reporting all Field Activities, Following Federal GLP Requirements for EPA
  • Registration of Test Substance.
