Project Description:
Weber, Hayes and Associates completed the permitted closure of a 12,000-gallon underground diesel storage tank at a truck maintenance and storage yard in Sunnyvale, California. Field observation (confirmed by laboratory testing) indicated a limited diesel release from product piping. With approval from the client, 250 cubic yards of contaminated soil was removed, clean soil samples were obtained, and the excavation was backfilled. This action eliminated the need for expensive subsurface investigation and regulatory closure of the site was granted.
Tasks:
- Coordination with regulatory agency personnel and submittal of Underground Storage Tank Closure Permits
- Completion of all required Workplans, Site Safety Plans, Air Board notification, regulatory-required soil & groundwater sampling and Final Reporting.
- Project scheduling is geared to efficiently remove tanks, backfill the excavation, and complete surface finish (asphalt/concrete) in order to limit the impact of construction on site businesses.
- On-site oversight by field geologist experienced with environmental fuel releases and skills to effectively move the site towards regulatory closure.
