Project Description:
An underground storage tank (UST) leak caused gasoline contamination of soil and groundwater beneath a gasoline service station. MTBE was found in a downgradient municipal water supply well. Weber, Hayes and Associates was retained to perform an expedited site assessment which included the installation of ten multi-level monitoring wells to define the three dimensional extent of the plume in the three-layer aquifer system. After removal of the leaking USTs, Weber, Hayes and Associates installed an innovative soil vapor extraction, air sparge, and groundwater circulation well cleanup system that has dramatically lowered concentrations of MTBE and other gasoline constituents in the dissolved plume.
